The only way out is through.
Because highly sensitive people take on the emotions and pain of others, they just want to do without connecting to emotions altogether.
To connect with the emotion inside themselves is to connect to the emotions of everybody they love which they feel responsible for.
Which explains why HSP’s don’t want to connect with emotions since it reminds them what a failure they are since it is impossible to resolve anything that doesn’t belong to you.
Remember just because you have an ability to feel, doesn’t mean you are responsible for everything that you do feel. Doing so would make anybody go crazy. Which is no wonder you have been feeling the way you do!
This explains why HSP’s continually try to numb themselves and run away from their gift to feel. They numb their feelings through overthinking, non-stop activity, internet, sex or food. Just name your addiction.
That’s why it’s important for highly sensitive people to stop resisting and numbing emotions and begin welcoming them in. Reconnect with your feelings because who you are is a feeler, not a thinker. Your greatest power lies not in your mind but in your intuition and feelings.
“How do you stop absorbing the energies of others?”
As you welcome in all the energy and emotion around you, let everything that does not belong to you flow through and out of you. You are a conduit for the energy and emotions around you, NOT A SPONGE!
Make this your mantra, “IN and OUT, that’s what a highly sensitive person is all about!”
So the next time you want to resist or numb your emotions, remember you will absorb and take on anything you resist. Who you are, is a conduit for all these emotions. Let them flow through and out of you. The key to letting the emotions of others flow through you is knowing although you have the power to feel, it doesn’t mean you hold any responsibility for that which you feel.
Be free to live your life and live for yourself. Stop living in the nightmare of feeling responsible for the world at the expense of yourself.
